IN SILENCE

     In silence, strong feelings pulse and throb and flow. Noisy as our world is, it is actually mostly silent. Our whole inner life is silent, even though the mind can seem quite loud. The sky, and the space beyond, are silent, but for the occasional wind and thunder. 
     There is power in your silence. The infinite resource of aliveness and possibility, like a deep well, like the ocean depths. You can rest and be restored in your silence, and merge with the silence of the sky and the silent ground. Silence is a very personal place, but as you open to it you join with the unspoken silence of community, the collective inner quiet of all humanity. You join with the birds and animals and trees and all of life.
     And then sometimes in the silence there emerges in you a strong feeling, an idea that must be spoken and shared. And your words make a connection with someone. And your words invite someone back into the silence, to join you in the silence of love.
