NATURAL RESOURCES

Too much sunshine, not enough rain in California. Too cold and too much rain in the Midwest. It costs an arm and a leg to fill the gas tank of your car. People in parts of Africa walk a mile for a pail of water. Countless practical problems need to be solved!
And yet, I feel a sense of abundant optimism. There are vast untapped stores of love and kindness on the earth, just waiting to be mined and set flowing in the hearts of humanity. Earth is abundant, there is no shortage of consciousness in the air, the sky, the sunshine, the children, the teachers and you and me.
Sure, if you lose your way and take a wrong turn, you can run into deep reservoirs of greed, hatred and fear. On the highway of life, you have a choice every minute about which way to turn.
You are the driver, the farmer, the miner, the manufacturer. In you there is an almost infinite supply of courage, intelligence, and tenderness.
The greatest resource on earth is you. You and I and each of us belong here. Look out at the starry sky at night. We are the universe speaking in individual bodies and minds. We are Nature walking and talking, thinking and being silently present. We are pure compassion. We are consciousness, with individual names. When we love each other, we are whole, and the whole earth throbs and trembles with abundance.
