THE SAME AND DIFFERENT

     I was reminded of a simple truth in astrology yesterday. It is that each of us is affected in very different ways by the very same set of energies and planets currently impacting the earth. At a workshop for a small group of lovely folks who do spiritual work together, we talked about the movement of planets of change, and how these were acting in each individual chart.
     We looked at how Pluto, symbol of power and transformation, is currently in dynamic tension with Uranus, symbol of freedom. Everyone on earth is now dealing with the challenge to use power to create freedom. Yet, one person has to confront and engage a powerful adversary, or powerful changes in profession. Another is learning to share power in relationship, or balance the power of private inner life with the expression in public life. One is breaking free of ego and emotional patterns from the past, another is exploring new creative outlets in career, or community participation. And in this crazy world, some are resisting change with all the power they can muster, and some are abusing their power, and breaking free of the laws of decency and reason.
     I wonder in what ways you are realizing freedom in your life, and in what ways you are noticing that you are not as free as you could be. And I am curious about what has power in your life these days.  Are you stuck in a power struggle with people and activities you disagree with? Are you afraid of your own power, or doubt that you have any? Or do you feel the power of your own presence, the power of your connection to the truth of this present moment? The power of your capacity to make a difference in your world.
     Freedom and power. Two dynamic principles of crucial importance for everyone on the planet. Pay attention to where Uranus and Pluto are emerging in your life, and participate in changing the world.
