Remember those little valentines sugar candies with words on them? The popularity contest in grammar school about who got the most cards from classmates? Remember all the things we've done to be loved by parents, friends, spouses, children?
Love is the most beautiful thing, connecting us all. But it can be a hard road, with exalting highs and horrible, humiliating, heartbreaking lows. Popular songs and poetry tell you a lot about it: all you need is love, love me tender, love hurts, the glory of love, love is a many splendored thing, bye-bye love. Religions and spiritual paths preach about it. And holidays provide all kinds of ways to express and prove love with cards, flowers, and candy.
All the while, love flows along, or bumps along like a cart pulled by a mule up a rocky mountain road, or falls like gentle rain from heaven or falling crab apple petals in a May breeze, or glows like a summer sunset, or sits calmly at a computer writing, or reading a blogpost.
