AN INSPIRING LIFE

     Five years ago my dear friend Alan died suddenly. Back in the early '60's Alan was my roommate at U of Penn. After that he was an aspiring writer at Iowa writers Workshop. Then a serious practitioner of Zen in San Francisco. Then he went back to school and became a brilliant rabbi, and wrote several great books with names like "The Sound of One God Clapping" written with his wife Sherril, and one about Jewish meditation called "Be Still and Get Going", and one with the incredible title "This Is Real And You Are Completely Unprepared".  He was inspiring and wise,
and it is his spirit and the example of his life that motivates me to write these posts. He showed me that we must share what we know, and express everything that we feel in our hearts, and let God work through us every day.
