MIRACLE

     You are free and I am free. Isn't it a miracle when we choose to communicate with each other? We are free, and yet more than anything we want to connect! What a dance we do. Independence is so important to a healthy sense of Self, and engagement is equally important. Find the balance between your freedom and your engagement and you have the secret to a happy life.
     I have brooded most of my life, trying to understand myself, wanting to be okay, wanting to be "enlightened". Know thyself was my mantra, and later om mane padme hum, same thing: Who Am I? Eventually I felt my freedom, I accepted that I actually am Myself.
And then an angel appeared, my true friend and soulmate, twenty some years ago. And I began to learn about love, and the abundant intimacy of engagement. I began to open to the miracle of vulnerability.
     You don't ever have to trade your freedom for the intimate connection of love. In fact, your become even more free when you commit to the relationships in your life. We only actualize ourselves by sharing and joining and communicating. We tell our stories, and speak our hearts, and turn ourselves inside out revealing who we are. And of course we learn all the ways that we are the same, the ways we all have the same needs and drives and beautiful qualities. And in the miracle of sharing, the miracle of connection, we come to know ourselves and each other. We are free unique individuals, and in many ways we are the same. We are connected, and in a very deep place we are One.
